North from
Agadir, the small port of Essaouira, ancient Mogador,
has a great demand in housing from tourists and
foreigners willing to invest for rent or retirement. Its
permanent sunning, its strengthened ramparts, its wild
splits and its deserted beaches bathed by a sea
ideal for water sports, make it a very in-demand place. Founded at the 18th century, the city offers
a beautiful medina and varied great excursions: the oasis of Aïn Hadjar,
the ruins of the old palate of Diabat, the road of the
argans (from which is extracted the famous argan oil)
is only some kilometres from the city. Various types of lodging are available in Essaouira.
Well-known for its riads and palates, the city saw
a recent development in hotels and resorts, to satisfy an
increasing demand.
